International Romani Language Day – November 5 2025

Today we celebrate International Romani Language Day, a moment dedicated to recognizing and affirming our cultural and linguistic identity. The Romani language is more than a means of communication – it is a living history, a bearer of collective memory, traditions, resistance, migration and dignity.

The Romani language is part of the Indo-European language family, with origins in northwestern India. Today, approximately 4–5 million people speak Romani in Europe and the global diaspora.

Among the main dialects of the Romani language are:
- Vlach (Kalderash, Lovari)
- Balkans
- Central Romani
- Carpathian Romans
- Sinti-Manouche
- Romanichal

Regardless of region or dialect, the Romani language remains a common symbol of Roma identity.

Union Romani Voice reaffirms its commitment to protect and transmit the Romani language to future generations, to promote bilingual education, and to defend the right of Roma to speak their language with dignity.

By speaking Romanian, we affirm who we are.

Good luck!

Health and blessings!
